The entry-level variant is available with mechanical steering and is one of the most affordable tractors one can buy at Rs 4.05 lakh. The slightly more-premium variant, which comes with power steering as standard, is priced at Rs 4.40 lakh.

  The Eicher 242 is powered by a unique single-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel engine, which makes it one of the very few tractors to be powered by a single-cylinder engine in the world. This engine is paired with a transmission unit comprising 8 forward and 2 reverse gears and produces a maximum power output of 25 bhp. Eicher claims a top speed of 27.61 kmph for the 242 tractors, while it gets basic air cooling for keeping the engine cool at high operating temperatures. The Eicher 242 comes with a single clutch as standard for the transmission.
